Galleri NordNorge (Gallery of Northern Norway) |Harstad, Norway

Sept 2012 - Aug 2017

As Director of Galleri NordNorge, with my background as a practising professional artist in the field of contemporary fine art, combined with my business experience, my duties were to develop the gallery’s profile and support and promote regional artists. We developed close collaborative relationships with individual artists, art galleries and museums, such as Nasjonalmuseet (The Norwegian National Gallery in Oslo) and Nord-Norsk Kunst- Museum (The Northern Norwegian Museum of Art in Tromsø) including exhibitions of work by Peder Balke, Paul McCarthy and Norwegian 10 Designers.

FOUNDER AND CEO of A:RT GYMSAL A.S. | (A:rt Gymnasium Ltd.) | Harstad, Norway

Nov 2004 - July 2016

In November 2004 I bought a Grade 1 Listed heritage military gymnasium to make as my studio. The building was almost 12 000 ft2 so decided to expand the project to include space for other artists. I built a two-storey glass construction inside the gym with 10 studios and showrooms, which I rented to artists, designers, architects and other creative practitioners. It was acclaimed as a unique creative and economic project built on generosity and synergy that occurs when creative people join to support and make opportunities for each other.

Kunstrom 7 (Art Room 7) Trastad Samlinger, Norway | Sør-Troms Museum, Norway

Sept 2010 -Sept 2013

Kunstrom 7 was a collaboration between Trastad Samlinger (Trastad Collection, Art- and Cultural- Historical Museum), Rå Videregåendeskole (Rå Higher College of Education) and myself. We created a college equivalent foundation course in visual arts for students with special needs; three young teenage girls with Downs Syndrome and a young boy with Autism. The course provided adapted training for the development of skills in visual arts for these four students to prepare them for their future professional, artistic practice. |

Sør-Troms Museum, Norway

Sept 2009 -Sept 2012

Department Head, responsible for photography and digital imaging and for archiving and managing the Museum's extensive collections of slides, photographs, negatives, videos, and other such media. My position also entailed exhibition design, taking and making accessible high quality photographs of collections, exhibitions and public events for a wide spectrum of uses, including books, magazines, newspapers, other publications, photographic archives, and websites.

Nordland kunst- og filmfagskole, Kabelvåg, North Norway

Nov 1999- Jun 2006

My remit was to give a solid foundation in the technical and traditional skills of drawing and painting, art history and theory, while encouraging the students to explore the boundaries of visual arts and expand and challenge their thinking in content, form, theories, methods, and processes. I was fortunate to collaborate with artists, film- makers and theoreticians from across the Nordic countries and Europe, who visited the school to teach and hold workshops.
